Apple Spice Layer Cake


 
Aaron celebrated his 51st birthday on Friday, July 3. Appropriately, Thea prepared a birthday cake to commemorate the ocassion! Thea prepared a low cholesterol, low sugar Apple Spice Layer Cake.  It actually tasted awesome!  Try it for yourself at your next family gathering or celebration!

 
Apple Spice Layer Cake
1/2 cup egg substitute
1 cup sugar free applesauce
2 tsp. vanilla
2 + 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. Splenda Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 can sugar free apple pie filling
1 tub sugar free cool whip
 

  1. Mix together first 9 ingredients (excluding the apple pie filling and cool whip)
  2. Spread into two 8" round pans coated with nonstick cooking spray
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
  4. Remove from pans and cool
  5. Spread 1/2 can apple pie filling on top of one of the cakes
  6. Place other cake on top of 1st cake and top it with remaining apple
  7. pie filling
  8. Frost entire cake with sugar free cool whip
  9. Chill for one hour to set before serving
